Children's Programs

We're happy to offer an array of programs and events for our littlest patrons!

1,000 Books B4 Kindergarten

This free program is a great way to begin fostering a love of reading in children before they even begin school. Whether your child is a newborn or just turned four, it's entirely possible to complete this program! Your child only needs to be 5 or younger, and not have started Kindergarten to sign up (4K excluded). Simply stop by the library to fill out a short form and receive your sticker and activity book. You'll then be able to sign up via the Beanstack app or website for digital tracking. Any book your child reads with you, a friend, another family member, or at a program (like our Children's Storytime!), that book can be logged. A book may be logged more than once, so feel free to re-read favorites as many times as you want! Stop by the library ever 100 books read for a new book, and a grand prize at completion!

*Funds for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten were provided in 2012 and 2014 by the Education Foundation of the Albany Community. Private donations also fund this program.

Preschool Storytime

Geared to ages 0-5, Children's Storytime is a great way to get your little ones excited about reading. Join Ms. Laura, our Children's Specialist, for fun and engaging stories and crafts that follow a monthly theme. Storytime is held every Tuesday at 10:00am here at the library.
